What's the difference between wellness and well-being?

These words are often used interchangeably even though they mean different things. Understanding the difference can help you think about how you want to take are of, and check-in on, your well-being.

Wellness: An active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life.

Well-being: Encompasses quality of life and the ability of people and societies to contribute to the world with a sense of meaning and purpose.

A simple way to think about this is that wellness routines are what you do to improve your overall well-being.
